With a fifer, Ishant Sharma runs riot in Colombo

Ishant's fiery spell left Sri Lanka Board's President XI in tatters

Colombo: After Ajinkya Rahane powered Indian side to a fighting first innings total of 351, Ishant Sharma rattled the Sri Lanka Board President's XI and left them to 35/5 at lunch on Friday at the R Premadasa Stadium here.

Rahane, who provided solidity to Indian innings with a hundred on Thursday, was retired hurt on the overnight score of 109.

Harbhajan Singh then joined R Ashwin in the middle. The veteran off-spinner scored 15 before India were all-out for 351.

From thereon, it was all Ishant Sharma show as the lanky speedstar rattled the opposition.

Sharma struck twice in his first over. First, he trapped JK Silva and then disturbed the timber to send DM de Silva packing.

In his next over, Ishant dislodged Tharanga for a duck.

His next over went wicketless. But continuing his good day in the middle, he scalped two more wickets in the next over.

Before teams went in for a lunch on day two, Sri Lanka Board President's XI were in deep trouble because of Ishant Sharma's impressive 4-1-5-5-spell.
