Bullet hits pace great Wasim Akram’s car in Karachi, no injuries

Former Pakistan paceman finds himself in the middle of street brawl

Karachi: Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram is reported to have been shot at during broad daylight on Wednesday. The episode came as a shock to the cricketing world.

The former left-arm pacer – who is currently conducting a fast bowling camp in Karachi National Stadium – was on his way to work when the car was caught in a firing incident in the middle of a traffic accident.

According to a report in Dawn, two groups were involved in a brawl and were exchanging words before the gun did the talking. One bullet hit Akram’s car tyre.

According to police, the cricketer was not the target. He just became a victim of a situation that could have been fatal.

But the 49-year-old Akram said a car had rammed into his vehicle.

“A car had hit my vehicle and when we asked him to pull over, he stepped out and opened fire. His appearance resembled that of an official.” According to a Pakistan journalist, Akram said that he has noted the number and given it to the police.

The pace great, at present, is training around 20 young bowlers from Pakistan in a talent hunt scheme.
