Raghava Lawrence gets candid about career, gives back to his fans

Lawrence has initiated work in Rani Anna Nagar
After setting a trend of sorts in Tamil cinema for the horror genre with his Kanchana series, actor-filmmaker-choreographer Raghava Lawrence has steered clear of that genre with his next two films which he announced recently. The first one is Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva, (MSKS) named after a line from his Kanchana 2, touted to be a commercial entertainer with a message. Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to the film to play his heroine. The second flick is titled Naaga.
“Just as Sarath Kumar’s character (a transgender) in Kanchana imparted a message, I am conveying something important to society through in MSKS, but it will be in a commercial format,” Lawrence tells DC. On Naaga he says, “It will be an intimidating thriller with a king cobra as the central character, with lots of graphics. I am planning it as a sequel right from the scripting stage. Ask him if it will be something like the Ananconda series, he laughs. “May be similar, but not the same! We have set a big budget for the movie, and the cast and crew are being worked out.”
The choreographer-turned-filmmaker says that his wife Latha and daughter Raghavi are his sounding boards. “After I conceive a line of my script, I narrate it to them first and ask for their opinion. They are my most unbiased critics. I am open to their suggestions as well.”
It is a common knowledge that Lawrence involves himself in several philanthropic activities. So it didn’t come as a surprise when he announced that he is donating '1 crore, which is the advance paid to him by his producers Vendhar Movies for these two films, towards education and medical aid for the poor and the needy.
He explains, “I am a star today because of my innumerable fans. Today, I have an Audi car and two houses. I am in a position to help them, and this is my way of giving back to the public.” Emulating the late president APJ Abdul Kalam, Lawrence has initiated work in Rani Anna Nagar in the city and said he would strive to make Tamil Nadu a ‘Green Place’.
