The 15 passengers, who suffered injuries, were sent to Salem government hospital for treatment
Salem: As many as 15 passengers travelling in a government bus were injured after it turned upside down, when a speeding lorry rammed into near Asthampatty ‘roundana’ in Salem on Monday.
Police said the bus with around 30 passengers was heading to Bangalore, when the incident happened at around 5 am. “The bus turned directly, instead of going around the roundana in the four road junction, when the speeding lorry bound to Yercaud Road from Salem town area hit rammed on it. In the
impact, the bus turned turtle on the middle of the road,” police said.
The 15 passengers, who suffered injuries, were sent to Salem government hospital for treatment. They were discharged after treatment. The bus was later removed from the stretch.
“As there was no traffic, the bus skipped taking a turn by going around the roundana, which caused the mishap,” police said. The Asthampatty police have registered a case.
