Osmania General Hospital doctors express their anguish to the chairman

OGH doctors not happy with the idea of demolition of the building

Hyderabad: A fight broke out between doctors of Osmania General Hospital and doctors of the Telangana Government Doctors Association in front of Telangana Political Joint Action committee chairman Professor M. Kodandaram on Monday.

Dr G. Srinivas Reddy of OGH alleged that the association doctors were misleading them and that Prof. Kodandaram must first listen to them. Dr Reddy said, “Please ask us what our problems are. We are having infrastructure problems and it means that the building will have to be shifted but not demolished. This whole idea of demolition is not going to help the hospital.” There was a lot of shouting in the conference room and Prof. Kodandaram had to appease the doctors on both sides and stated that all would be heard.

A section of OGH doctors were ready to shift but not happy with the idea of demolition of the building. Another doctor in the panel said, “What exactly has KCR done for the hospital? Rs 100 crore has still not been released. We want conditions to improve, promotions to take place, recruitments to happen and none of this is being seen. How can we improve when there is no proper manpower and also hospital infrastructure?”

Taking down these points from doctors, Prof. Kodandaram once again stated that the health aspect required urgent attention and improving it must be the priority. A brief report will be presented by him to the government.
