Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to launch 24/7 vet service from September

The software for the scheme will be prepared in collaboration with Keltron

Kochi: Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) will launch 24x7 'e-vet connect' services in the first week of September. This is a unique project in the country where veterinary services will be available round the clock, according to KVASU vice-chancellor Dr B. Ashok.

“There is an increasing demand from owners of large and small ruminants, pet animals in the state for clinical services and advisories since they could not reach experts in emergency situations,” he said. “Moreover facilities for availing the services of experts after normal working hours are less when compared to human health care system. Hence launching of the new system”.

Initially, e-vet connect will be available in three Assembly constituencies of Kalpetta, Ollur and Thrissur and will be extended to entire state later.

The software for the scheme will be prepared in collaboration with Keltron. It will be funded by NABARD under rural infrastructure development fund.

Dr. Ashok said that e-vet connect would be linked to the national career services portal to create awareness on skill development in the livestock sector.
