Mahatma Gandhi University seeks govt permission for off-campus students to continue

The syndicate cleared 680 files which came up for its consideration

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The MG University syndicate on Saturday urged the government and the Chancellor to allow the second and third-year students of the derecognised off- campus centres to continue their studies as per the memorandum of understanding entered into by the varsity.

The syndicate cleared 680 files which came up for its consideration. The action taken by the Vice- Chancellor to commence the operations of the Institute of Arts and Commerce at Kaviyoor was ratified by the syndicate.

Ten syndicate members registered their protest in writing against the operations of the college without seeking the prior permission of the syndicate.

Prof O.M. Mathew and Prof Puthussery Ramachandran were appointed as chair respectively in the name of Swamy Vivekanada and Kannassa poets for the next two years.

Research scholarship will be given to all applicants in the university. The managers of DB College and Newman College, Thodupuzha, will be served show-cause notices for not adhering to university guidelines in admissions.
