M. Karunanidhi took potshots at AIADMK for an alarming rise in the state’s public debt in the last four years
Chennai: DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Saturday urged the state government to go on appeal against an order of the Madras high court holding as ‘invalid’ the ban imposed on beach sand mining invalid in the state.
Stating that the appeal would give “some hope to all the citizens who have complained against sand mining activities in the past,” Stalin urged the state government to make public the findings of the Gagandeep Committee that looked into the complaints of rampant illegal mining and the over-exploitation of resources.
Meanwhile, DMK chief M. Karunanidhi took potshots at AIADMK for an alarming rise in the state’s public debt in the last four years. Quoting 70th round of NSSO survey on public debt of various states, he said the state’s debt had doubled since the DMK left office in 2010-11.
