Five suspected terrorists held for twin blasts at Pakistan churches

Security agencies also recovered weapons, explosive materials and detonators

Lahore: Five suspected terrorists in Pakistan have been arrested for their alleged involvement in deadly suicide blasts by Taliban bombers at two churches here that killed 15 people.

The arrested suspects facilitated the two suicide bombers who blew themselves up at the gates of Roman Catholic Church and Christ Church in Youhanabad area of Lahore on March 15, police said today.

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan's splinter group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar had claimed responsibility for the attack, one of the worst attacks on the minority community in recent times in Pakistan. The security agencies also recovered weapons, explosive materials and detonators from their possession, the Dawn reported.

The five suspects have been handed over to Lahore police, which took them to some undisclosed location for interrogation.

The arrested suspects had links with a banned organisation, police sources said.
