Three two-wheeler riders killed in Chennai

The injured were moved to the KMC where Josephine died
Chennai: Three persons were killed in different accidents in the city since Thursday. In one incident on Friday evening, a 24-year-old kitchen staffer at ITC Grand Chola, S. Shahinsha, was on his way to work when a state run bus knocked his two-wheeler down near Kathipara flyover.
Shahinsha, a native of Manjakuppam, Cuddalore was staying at Ekkatuthangal. Around 4.30 pm, he was riding his two-wheeler under the Kathipara bridge when the SETC bus from Koyambedu towards Puducherry hit the bike from behind. Shahinsha lost control of the vehicle and was thrown to the ground. He came under the wheels of the bus and died as the bus ran over his body.
“He was wearing a helmet,” police said. St. Thomas Mount traffic investigation wing moved the body to Chrompet Government Hospital for post mortem. A case was registered and the bus driver, Radhakrishnan (45) of Cuddalore was arrested.
In another incident in Kolathur, 24-year-old A. Josephine Angel, a MBA student at Loyola College, was on her way back home with her friends when she met with an accident on Wednesday evening, police said. Josephine succumbed to her injuries at a city hospital on Thursday.
A resident of MGR Nagar 7th street in Puzhal, the victim was riding triples in a bike with her friends, Clement (22) and Deepika (22). When they were near Ambedkar Nagar in Kolathur, Clement lost control of the vehicle upon which the trio got thrown to the ground. A truck carrying LPG cylinders trailing them hit Josephine and Deepika injuring them seriously. Clement escaped with lesser injuries.
The injured were moved to the KMC where Josephine died. Thirumangalam traffic investigation wing have registered a case and are investigating.
In another incident in Porur- Kundrathur road, a 19-year-old labourer from Rajasthan, Jisram who was riding pillion with a colleague Baburam (21) died after a Corporation garbage truck knocked down their two-wheeler. They were riding towards their marble company in Maduravoyal where they work when the truck hit the bike. Poonamalee traffic investigation wing registered a case and arrested the truck driver Mahalingam (35).
