No case against Kerala Cricket Association officials

Justice Alexander Thomas issued the order while considering a plea filed by P K Jacob

Kochi: Kerala High Court on Thursday set aside the criminal proceedings initiated against Kerala Cricket Association under the Prevention of Corruption Act holding that KCA officials would not come under the Public Servant category. The proceedings are pending before Thrissur Vigilance Court.

Justice Alexander Thomas issued the order while considering a plea filed by P K Jacob. The case pertains to the irregularities in connection with the India Pakistan match in 2006 and refurbishment of flood light in 2011.

The petitioner alleged that TC Mathew BCCI vice president and others misappropriated several crores while holding official posts in the Kerala Cricket Association. The court held that criminal proceedings under PC Act is not maintainable.
