Osmania General Hospital doctors spar on shift

There was a major argument between doctors

Hyderabad: There were unseemly scenes between doctors of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) over shifting of patients in haste from the hospital on Wednesday morning.

The heads of the department along with doctors of Telangana government had gathered in the superintendent’s chamber to discuss the fine points and some doctors raised objections leading to shouting and screaming in the meeting.

A senior doctor on the condition of anonymity said, “What is the need to shift the hospital in such haste? Shifting is required but can’t we utilise the wards in the existing out-patient and emergency building. The OGH doctors union has failed to look within and are going about looking at hospitals which may not be acceptable to us. Here, the changes have been made according to our requirements and there we will have to start again.”

This objection didn’t go down well and there was a major argument between doctors. Another senior doctor said, “The people have to understand that out-patient and emergency will be working and only some parts are going. Instead of doing all that, we are just in a great hurry to shift.”

On Wednesday afternoon, 24 patients, 12 assistant professors, three orthopaedic specialist and 14 nurses were shifted to King Koti area hospital.
