Bold new image for Anjali

The pretty actress speaks about her role in Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi
It looks like Anjali who is making a re-entry after a hiatus of almost three years (following her controversial relocation to Hyderabad), with a Jayam Ravi film, Sakalakalavallan has resolved go glam in her second innings. The actress, who has gained few extra kilos, says that director Suraaj wanted a curvy look for the village belle role. “Anyway, I am on a weight loss regime as I was asked to drop six kilos by Karthik Subbaraj sir for Iraivi,” says Anjali.
About her role in Iraivi, where she is teams up with Vijay Sethupathi, she says, “I play a bold girl and a character which I have not attempted so far. I can’t reveal much about it, but the film will be a significant one in my career.”
We hear Trisha has more screen space than you in Sakala…? “No, it is untrue! We have equal footage and this is the first time I have attempted comedy. And there were no catfights between us. I wanted to re-enter Tamil films with a bang. So far, you have seen me in serious emotional roles. When Suraaj sir approached me with this script, which is lighthearted, I immediately accepted it. And for the songs, I have dressed in glamorous clothes,” she reveals.
Heaping praises on her costar Ravi, she says, “Our comfort levels are good. He gives his costars a lot of space.” Refuting rumours that she has a boyfriend in the US and that she travels there quite often abandoning her work commitments here, she said, “It’s a good joke. These are baseless reports. I was shooting in the US for my Telugu film Chitrangada, the story of which happens mostly in America.”
Quiz her on whether her priority is Tamil or Telugu, she smiles, “Both are equally important. It’s not the language but the kind of films which really matter. I am doing four films in Telugu and four in Tamil including Maapla Singham with Vemal. And after my Kannada movie Rana Vikrama with Puneeth Rajkumar was a hit, I am getting good offers from Sandalwood also.” In Tollywood you are being paired mostly with senior heroes… “It hardly matters in T’town. The veterans dominate more there,” she signs off.
