While her work takes her to many destinations around the world, Asin says that she loves to travel even when she is not working. And among all the countries she has visited, she cannot get enough of New Zealand.
She visited the country for the first time for a shoot very early on in her career. And in the same trip, she celebrated her 18th birthday. Since then she has been to New Zealand 10 times.
Asin says, “It’s a visual treat and I indulged in so many activities. There was so much to learn about the Maori tribe — the original inhabitants and how till date they’ve managed to keep their culture alive. Thanks to my work, I have been able to explore the country and totally fell in love with it.”
Unlike most travellers, Asin doesn’t like to carry a camera. “I have very few photographs of my travels. I don’t carry a camera with me and I barely use my phone when I am on a holiday. We get so occupied in clicking pictures that we miss out on the actual experience,” says the actress.
She adds, “I always pick up a fridge magnet from the country I am visiting, especially if I am visiting it for the first time. It has been my habit since childhood. My fridge is covered with magnets from around the world.”
