Submit report on colleges: Hyderabad High Court

The bench said that decisions of AICTE and the JNTU will be subject to the final outcome of the petitions pending before it

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the All India Council for Technical Education and the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, to take a decision with regard to granting of approval and affiliation to 99 private engineering colleges and submit a status report before it by Thursday.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt while dealing with appeals by the varsity with regard to the affiliation row, ordered the AICTE to take the decision based on the inspection reports by the experts team whether the colleges are fit to continue the approval granted by it earlier or not and pass orders accordingly.

The bench told the JNTU to take a decision on granting affiliation to the colleges based on the findings of the AICTE and the reports of the expert committees.

The bench made it clear that the AICTE and the JNTU has to communicate the orders to the colleges by recording their reasons either to grant approval or to withdraw it and similarly granting affiliation or for its rejection.

While directing the AICTE and the JNTU to inform the status by Thursday, the bench said that decisions of AICTE and the JNTU will be subject to the final outcome of the petitions pending before it.
