IIM Shillong recalls last minutes of Dr Kalam

The demise of Dr Kalam was announced by the officials of the hospital at around 7:45pm
Chennai: The IIM Shillong fraternity gathered on Tuesday morning and maintained one minute of silence in the memory of Dr Kalam, who passed away delivering a session for the second year students on ‘Creating a Liveable Planet’ on Monday. This was followed by a sapling plantation to honour the visionary, the press release added.
Dr Kalam was on a visit to Meghalaya to address the students of the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. He arrived in the campus premises at around 5.45 pm. After refreshments, he proceeded towards the Institute’s auditorium at around 6.30 pm to deliver his session. At about 15 minutes into his speech, in the midst of sharing his experiences with the students, he suddenly fainted and fell. The medical officer of IIM Shillong tried to provide artificial resuscitation to revive him. Dr Kalam was immediately transferred to the nearest hospital for further medical attention. The demise of Dr Kalam was announced by the officials of the hospital at around 7:45pm.
The IIM fraternity gathered at around 10:30 pm at the institute to pay their condolences and tribute to Dr Kalam.
