A dream come true

Aileena Catherin Amon calls her second movie, Ayaal Njanalla, a beautiful surprise that she had not even thought of in her wildest dreams
Model-turned-actress Aileena Catherin Amon will soon be seen again on the big screen in the role of a college girl in Vineeth Kumar’s movie Ayaal Njanalla. The actress, who was previously seen in Hi, I’m Tony, calls her second movie venture a beautiful surprise that she had not even thought of in her wildest dreams.
“One of my friends, who is doing the casting for the movie, had put up an audition call and sent me a message on Facebook on a Tuesday. But I saw this only on Wednesday. Since I missed out on that opportunity, I gave him my number so that next time something like this comes up, he could let me know. As soon as I gave the number, he gave me a call saying they still haven’t decided and said I could go and do a screen test. I was in my college at that time and couldn’t get out until 10 o’clock. So, when I got a break, I got permission from my HOD and went for the test. As soon as Vineeth sir came in and saw me, the first thing he said was ‘Give her the script and the costume.’ and he just came and told me ‘We are going to shoot after lunch’! That’s how fast it all happened. It was beautiful,” explains Aileena.
She adds about the movie, “I’m acting as a bubbly college student who is the girlfriend of Sijoy Varghese and my part of the shoot was completely in Bangalore, though parts of the movie were shot in Gujarat as well. It was a wonderful experience to work with Vineeth sir. He makes you feel at home. Being a big Fahad fan myself, doing a scene with him was a dream come true!”
Aileena, who is a final year student of masters in International Business at St Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore, had worked as a full time model for two years after her BBA before joining her masters course and has walked the ramp with the likes of Sameera Reddy. She was also crowned Miss South India and Miss Catwalk at the 12th Manappuram Miss South India pageant held early this year at Hyderabad. “I recently walked the ramp for the Signature show and I’m still interested in modelling and actively pursuing it. Now, after my second venture, I’m taking movies more seriously as well. As soon as I am done with my exams, I plan on concentrating on my acting career and taking up more good roles that come my way,” she signs off.
