Hyderabad gets first lady driving instructor

Ms Nagadevatha underwent training for 25 days, at FLO’s Skill Development Centre

Hyderabad: The city got its first ever lady driving instructor Nagadevatha, who was trained as part of the Women in Transport initiative by the FICCI Ladies Organisation.

Ms Nagadevatha underwent training for 25 days, at FLO’s Skill Development Centre. She is from the first batch of 40 women being trained under the initiative. Ms Nagadavetha who has landed her first job, which pays Rs 15,000 per month, was always interested in driving.

“On learning about this initiative I joined the classes and after completing the classes, I will be giving lessons. It is not just men who can drive and teach driving. Even women can teach driving,” Ms Nagadevatha informed. Ms Nagadevatha has brought in five of her friends to join the initiative.

“She is the first person to get the LLR from the Begumpet centre and also the first person to be invited by Maruti to be placed as driving instructor in their Begumpet Varun Motors centre. She is part of the first batch of women we are training and has learnt very fast. She is the star of our initiative. We are currently training 40 women drivers and 40 more are in the pipeline,” said FLO chairperson Rekha Lahoti.
