Hyderabad: The current depression over the north Bay of Bengal will not lead to much rainfall in Telangana coastal Andhra Pradesh, said officials of the India Meteorological Department.
As per the IMD, “The low pressure area over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal has concentrated into a depression over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal. The system is likely to remain practically stationary and may concentrate into a deep depression during the next 48 hours.”
“This will cause heavy rains in only land areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal,” the IMD official said.
Over the next one week, moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers are expected in a few places over Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, whereas only light to moderate rain or thundershowers will occur over isolated places in Rayalaseema. Most stations will receive scant and isolated rains,” the IMD official said.
In Telangana, in the last 24 hours, Khammam recorded the maximum rainfall. Manuguru mandal received 6 cm, followed by Dummugudem mandal at 4 cm and Sathupalle, Aswapuram, Pinapaka mandals, which recorded 3 cm.
In Andhra Pradesh, Mandasa from Srikakulam and Jiyyammavalasa mandal from Vizianagaram recorded maximum rainfall of 5 cm each, followed by Kurupam of Vizianagaram and Palakonda, Palasa, Pathapatnam of Srikakulam, which recorded 4 cm each.
