Nizamabad: VIPs including film stars thronged Pochampad pushkar ghat in Nizamabad district for holy dip for the last 11 days. Nalgonda district Munugodu MLA Prabhakar Reddy, Mahbubnagar district Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraj visited Pochampad ghat on Friday and took holy dip along with their family members. Few devotees visited nearest pushkar ghats at Savel, Tadpakal, Domchanda and Gummirial villages.
On the other hand, a section of pilgrims violated the security norms and entered the deep waters besides the pushkar ghats at Pochampad on Friday. Reportedly, a senior police officer from Hyderabad violated the security norms and took holy dip outside the barricades. Noticing him, other devotees also went there.
Police officers at pushkar ghats, expert swimmers and volunteers of TNGOs, National Disaster and Response Force (NDRF) requested the pilgrims to vacate the danger zone. After repeated requests, the pilgrims vacated the place. Meanwhile, missing children at the ghats were reunited with their parents with the help of police control room.
