Bengaluru: Kannada actors and actresses became a topic of discussion in the Legislative Council on Thursday. Replying to Tara Anuradha (BJP), Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, "Amma Taara, you are a good artist. We too have good artists like Jayamala, women and child welfare miniser Umashree and housing minister M.H. Ambarish. Even former minister Ms Motamma is a good actor and a singer".
Intervening, Leader of Opposition K.S. Eshwarappa said while Mr Ambarish is a hero, he has now become a villain for the CM. Disagreeing, Mr Siddaramaiah asked Mr Eshwarappa not to spread canards since he and Mr Ambarish shared a good relationship. "We made Mr Ambarish a minister because he was a hero".
When the CM said Ms Tara is a good actor, she sought a clarification whether he was pulling her leg. But Mr Siddaramaiah said he was truly praising her talent. Mr Eshwarappa said BJP made her a member of the Upper House as she was a good actress.
Mr H.M. Revanna (Congress) advised Mr Eshwarappa to produce a film making Ms Tara the heroine. Mr Sandesh Nagaraj, a film producer turned politician, said he was ready to produce a film if Ms Tara was wiling to give a call sheet.
When Mr Go Madhusudhan (BJP) stood up to say something, Ms V.S. Ugrappa (Congress) said Mr Madhusudhan was fit to do the role of 'Ghatodgaja', a demon. Ms Tara then said she had stopped signing for new movies as she was involved in social work as a MLC.
