Two men rob mother, daughter of gold

Two persons entered into a house on Tuesday afternoon and robbed 16 sovereigns of gold jewels
Coimbatore: Two persons entered into a house on Tuesday afternoon and robbed 16 sovereigns of gold jewels by threatening a woman and her daughter in broad daylight.
Police said two persons, aged around 27 years, had entered into the house of Pushpa, 40 at Mathampatty Road in Thondamuthur in afternoon and snatched away her gold chain with thali and ear stud from her daughter.
“The culprits made an easy entry into the house of the complainant as she kept the doors open,” police said. Following a complaint, a team of police from Thondamuthur station rushed to the spot and held investigations.
Police have also lifted finger prints and are scanning the images recorded in CCTVs fixed in commercial establishments in the neighbourhood to identify the thieves.
“The accused persons had a well built physique and were conversing in Tirunelveli accent. After the complainant’s husband died in an accident, ten years ago, she had remarried another man.
The robbers had told the complainant ill about her second husband. Hence we suspect the culprits to have known their family members,” police said. Further investigations are on.
In another incident, A Subbaraj, 43, a TNSTC staff and resident of Devi Nagar in Karamadai, had gone to his native Kovilpatty along with his family members, a few days ago, by locking the house.
On his return on Tuesday morning, Subbaraj found the doors of the house broken open and 6.5 sovereigns of gold jewels missing from his house. The Karamadai police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
