Coalgate: Supreme Court sets up panel to probe ex-CBI chief Ranjit Sinha

Meetings of Sinha at his official residence will be probed by a SC-appointed SIT

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday formed a panel headed by former Special CBI director ML Sharma to probe the agency's former Director Ranjit Sinha.

Ranjit Sinha, in his term as CBI director, had allegedly met people accused in the 2G and coal scandals at his official residence without the presence of investigating officers.

The court had earlier said that further inquiry was necessary to ascertain the fairness and impact of his conduct in the coal scam probe.
