Congress hits out at Modi over Pakistan policy

India’s Pakistan policy under PM Modi dispensation has become an “international joke”

New Delhi: Current developments in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the growing number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan and the raising of Pakistani and ISIS flags, would figure in the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning July 21. The main Opposition Congress on Saturday said India’s Pakistan policy under Narendra Modi dispensation has become an “international joke”.

“The Modi sarkar has made India’s Pakistan policy not only directionless but an International joke,” Congress party spokesman R.P.N. Singh said and asked Mr Modi to tell the country whether the NSA-level dialogue will still go on and whether the dialogue with the DGMO will proceed.

“The pm must spell out clearly what India has achieved by this so-called joint statement with Pakistan at Ufa... Pakistan has continued to backstab us in the last 15 months,” Mr Singh told reporters.

Attacking Mr Modi for his “prompt” acceptance of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s invite to visit the neighbouring country, Mr Singh said he must explain to the nation what was the “tearing hurry” in taking the decision as Pakistan has not taken any action against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack.
