VIP culture on occasions criticised

Government needs to change its VIP system, suggests Swamy Swaroopanandendra
Kakinada: The VIPs are creating ha-voc at temples, other shrines and also during religious occasions like Pushkaralu causing immense hardships to the ordinary devotees.
The tragic incident on the first day of Godavari Pushkaralu at Rajahmundry which claimed 27 lives is a glaring example of the damage caused by the VIP culture.
When a VIP comes to town or any shrine, the common people are forc-ed to stop for hours tog-ether on roads or queues and they face great hardship. Seers, intellectuals and common people advised the government to put an end to VIP culture immediately and reduce the VIP treatment to a minimum level.
Sri Sarada Peetham Seer of China Mushiniwada in Visakhapatnam Sri Swamy Swaroopananden-dra says God recognises no VIPs and all are equal before him and therefore they should not be any special treatment for the VIPs at temples or other religious programmes such as Pushkaralu. He felt that the VIP culture is causing immense damage at temples like Tirumala, Annavaram, Srisailam, Simhachalam, Vijayawa-da and other shrines, including Pushkaralu. He said they should not create inconvenience and cause trouble to the common people who are coming to the shrines with devotion. He suggested that the government change its VIP system immediately for the interests of the people.
The Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samiti (Hindu Temples Protection Samiti) Seer Sri Kamalananda Bharathi Swamy said the VIP culture was damaging other administration system and it is harmful for the common people.
He said the VIP treatment should be given only to the Prime Minister, President, Judges and higher-ranking authorities, but it should not be applied to anyone.
The Apartment Owners Welfare Association of Kakinada founder Tatavarti Srinivasa Rao said the VIP system should be dispensed with immediately in shrines and it should not be encouraged in anyway.
The Kakinada Rate Payers Association secretary, Y.D. Ramarao, said the VIP system and also VIPs should be reduced to minimise the inconvenience caused to ordinary people. The Narasapuram Bar Association president, Polisetty Veera Venkata Narayana Swamy (Babji), said the VIP system should be abolished to avoid inconvenience to the people.
