Anantapur: The dengue scare among the people came in as a boon for private hospitals in the region and the situation appears worse in Anantapur district. Even for normal viral and malaria fevers, many private hospitals of Anantapur and Bengaluru are treating the patients in the name of dengue without proper diagnosis and collecting a hefty fee.
Official reports say, about 58 positive cases were reported for dengue fever as against suspected 415 blood smear samples collected from various parts of the district so far. Anantapur district medical and health authorities report that no casualty happened due to dengue so far.
A total of 155 positive cases of malaria were reported so far. But, the situation appears quite different after a number of cases was abnormal including deaths those confirmed by private hospitals of Bengaluru since one month.
At least five casualties reported from Kadiri and Dharmavaram areas. As dengue is prevalent mostly in rural areas, the Registered Medical Practitioners (RMP) are creating panic among patients and getting them admitted to various private hospitals. They are acting like touts between the private hospitals and the people.
According to sources, at least 200 people are undergoing treatment in various private hospitals in the district and several patients at Bengaluru.
There is a shortage of Eli-sa kits at Hindupur hospital and a post of technical supervisor to separate platelet cells at medical college hospital here is lying vac-ant. Although, few nursing homes have all the facilities including platelets transfusion, much required for treating dengue patients.
