Chennai: A doctor from Villupuram was arrested by Chennai police for sexually exploiting a woman in the city with promise of marriage and later dumping her. The medical practitioner, who got married to another woman last year, has been booked for rape by Madipakkam all women police when he came to meet his ex-flame with a promise to keep her as his mistress if she withdraws her complaint.
Police gave the name of the arrested person as R. Israel, 32, employed in a private hospital in Andhra Pradesh. According to police, he became friendly with the victim, Jolie (name changed) in 2007 when he was doing internship at Chennai GH. “At that time Jolie’s mother had been admitted there and Israel was treating her. By the time Jolie’s mother was discharged she and Israel became lovers. In the last seven year, she had eight abortions. But, in July last the doctor married another woman.”
When the victim came to know of it, she lodged a complaint in his native Ulundurpet in Villupuram.The case was later transferred to Madipakkam, the police said. As the doctor was not traceable, the police team had sought Jolie’s help to track him. So when he came to meet her on Monday asking her to withdraw the complaint, she informed the police, who picked him up. Israel was very much aware of the fact that there was a complaint against him but he kept on dodging police summons.
He had told Jolie to withdraw the complaint and had promised to keep her as his mistress. This actually infuriated her further and she immediately informed the police. Dr Israel has been charged for offences of rape and harassing a woman. He was remanded to judicial custody and lodged in Puzhal prison on Wednesday, the police said.
