Modi government in deep trouble: TNCC Chief

Elangovan also pointed out that Prime Minister Modi has an anti-farmer attitude
Tiruchy: The Tamil Nadu Congress committee (TNCC) president E.V.K.S. Elangovan said that the BJP government at the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which came to the power by giving false assurances, was in deep trouble over several issues and was unlikely to complete its five-year term.
Elangovan made this prediction while addressing the party workers conference here on Saturday, to discuss arrangements for the proposed visit of party vice president Rahul Gandhi to Tiruchy on July 23. He pointed out that Modi's false assurance has now been exposed. He also criticised the PM’s continuous foreign tours. This was strongly condemned by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sabha, a sister concern of the RSS, he added.
The TNCC Chief also pointed out that Prime Minister Modi has an anti-farmer attitude. He called upon party-men to meet people and explain to them the “misdeeds of Modi government” and turn the peoples' attention towards the Congress party.
Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, in his address, appealed to party-men to enlist more youths as members of the Congress party. He also criticised the Modi- led BJP government at the centre and said that it had almost dismantled the 100-day job scheme, was not showing interest in extending educational loans to needy students and was introducing a special ordinance on land acquisition and other anti-farmers activities.
The former Finance minister also criticised Modi's Swachh Bharat - Clean India scheme- and said that the BJP government had spent Rs 94 crores for publicity purposes alone for this scheme.
Later, Elangovan told media persons that there were several rumours about the health of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and wanted her to clarify her health condition to the people. He also took exception to non-convening of the state cabinet even after she resumed office of the Chief Minister recently (after the Karnataka high court acquitted her in the assets case).
