Girl used as a bait, raped twice in Jalna district

The two men kidnapped the girl at knife point and took her to a forest where they raped her
Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a girl was raped twice by the same offenders in the Jalna district when the police decided to use her as bait to catch the culprits, but failed to protect her.
Both the accused have now been arrested and an assistant inspector has been suspended. The Congress has demanded that the police be made co-accused in the case.
The 17-year-old victim’s ordeal began on July 7 when two men in their 20s accosted her with her boyfriend at an isolated spot along Nava Road in Jalna. The two men kidnapped the girl at knife point and took her to a forest where they not only raped her, but also filmed the whole incident on her cellphone.
According to the police complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the two alleged rapists started calling her and demanded Rs 2,000 to return her daughter’s cellphone with the video of the incident.
On Thursday evening, the accused asked her to come to a flyover and collect her phone. The police then asked her to go there so that the accused could be trapped. However, as the girl rode her two-wheeler towards the spot, the accused duo intercepted her along the way, took her into the bushes and again allegedly raped her.
The girl then went back to the police, who combed the area and caught the duo. Her cellphone was recovered, but the police found no objectionable video in it. Inspector-general of police Vishwas Nangre Patil visited Jalna on Friday and after reviewing the situation, ordered the suspension of assistant inspector Vinod Ejjapwar. However, the Congress has said that mere suspension of one policeman won’t suffice.
