No trust motion will fall apart, expose your nexus: Siddaramaiah to JD(S)-BJP

Combined efforts are being made by several forces like the BJP-JD(S) to topple an AHINDA chief minister

Belagavi: Ahead of the second phase of the Legislature session in Bengaluru from Monday, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah said he knew how to respond to the opposition’s machinations on the floor of the House. The opposition JD(S) plans to move a no-confidence motion against the government on the Lokayukta scam and farmer suicides.

Speaking to reporters during the last day of the session in Belagavi, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “It’s just a political gimmick by the Opposition to move a no-confidence motion. They should know that it will provide us an opportunity to expose their unholy partnership (of JD(S)-BJP). This will be interesting to watch.”

Combined efforts are being made by several forces like the BJP-JD(S) to topple an AHINDA chief minister.

“They perhaps do not like someone like me from the AHINDA block remaining CM. Both parties are controlled by dominant caste groups and are toying with the idea of toppling me. But they must worry about the repercussions,” he said.

The CM further claimed that the ruling Congress did its best despite various challenges posed by the Opposition in the last fortnight in Belagavi. “They tried their best to politicise farmer suicides and sugarcane growers’ problems by weaving a web of lies, but we successfully ensnared them in their own net by announcing suitable packages for sugarcane farmers. I am deeply pained by the farmer suicides, the government will do its best to help the families in trouble,” he said.

He alleged that the Opposition parties deliberately tried to politicise the Lokayukta issue despite being aware of the provisions of law. “We successfully proved that the Opposition was engaged in political stunts to malign the ruling party and me in particular,” he declared.

Responding to a question, Mr Siddaramaiah admitted that the absence of MLAs belonging to North Karnataka during the debate on lack of development in the region was the biggest disappointment he faced. “Everyone must participate. On the floor of the House there is no difference between MLAs of this or that region.”
