Pilgrims told to come to Bhadradri pushkar ghats with one change of dress
Khammam: Pilgrims coming to Bhadrachalam for pushkar snam and leaving tarpanam were cautioned not to bring luggage to the ghats. Officials are asking them to come to the pushkar ghats with just one bathing dress along with a change of dress. No private vehicle is being allowed in Bhadrachalam for parking. Five parking lots were set up in five places, five kms from the holy town on four sides. The pilgrims will be taken to the town from there in 100 RTC buses free of cost and they will be dropped at Saibaba temple in the town. The devotees have to walk one and a half kms to reach the pushkar ghats along with their luggage.
There are four ways of coming to Bhadrachalam from different destinations including from Kothagudem, Manuguru, Rajahmundry and Charla sides. All these routes will be blocked for private vehicles and these vehicles have to be parked in parking lots near Sarapaka, Burgumahad and Yatapaka. The administration felt the traffic problem is the root cause of all problems and it should be handled strictly.
On no entry of private vehicles, an official said, “It is a harsh decision but private vehicles will not be allowed. Passes are being issued to local vehicle owners.” The decision was taken for the convenience of pilgrims so that no stampede and drowning incidents occur. The entire route to Bhadrachalam from Khammam, Yellandu, Manuguru, Rajahmundry and Charla will be monitored by DSP rank police officials. If the traffic on the roads is more than the capacity, the vehicles will be stopped at parking places at Wyra, Yellandu, Manuguru and other places and it will be allowed only after enough vehicles return from Bhadrachalam.
