Worship place demolished in Secunderabad

On Tuesday, GHMC officials managed to remove the greenery surrounding the structure
Hyderabad: Town planning officials of the GHMC’s north zone on Wednesday attempted to pull down a place of worship that they say had come up illegally on the pavement near the Manohar theatre, Secunderabad.
However, a group of people supported by members of the Bajrang Dal gathered there and staged a protest. This drove back the GHMC team and the place of worship, situated on the pavement of the road leading to the Secunderabad station, could not be demolished.
GHMC officials said that the place of worship had been built up over time on the pavement, and greenery planted around it. The structure had totally blocked the pavement on the busy road.
On Tuesday, GHMC officials managed to remove the greenery surrounding the structure. But Wednesday?s operation to demolish the structure was stalled by the protests. “It is a pavement and meant for pedestrians,” a GHMC official said.
