Yasin Bhatkal files petition for CCTV cameras

CCTV cameras had been installed in all other barracks and places in the jail

Hyderabad: Indian Mujahideen terror suspect Yasin Bhatkal has filed a petition in court asking for CCTV surveillance cameras in the high security barracks where he is housed at the Cherlapalli jail to ensure their safety.

Bhatkal said he apprehended a threat to the lives of terror suspects and said having the premises covered by CCTVs would stop any foul play by authorities.

In his petition, he alleged that the terror suspects are confined in a small cell through the day without proper food, shelter and ventilation.

He alleged that CCTV cameras had been installed in all other barracks and places in the jail, and officials had deliberately excluded the high security barracks.

The petition was filed in the special court for NIA cases at Nampally and Bhatkal asked for a direction to the jail officials to install CCTV cameras.
