Hyderabad: The shortage of professionals to deal with cyber security threats can jeopardise the digitisation of Indian services. “China and the US have 1.2 lakh and 1 lakh cyber security professionals respectively while India, which is emerging in the digital space has only 600 professionals in different departments.”
“This shortage will make us ill-prepared to face cyber threats as critical services and important data are stored online,” said Dr Allam Apparao, the director of CR Rao Institute, on the sidelines of signing an MoU with the Telangana government on Monday.
Under the MoU, the CR Rao institute will safeguard government databases, including Aadhaar data. It will enable setting up of Cyber Security Academy in the state and will also train in-house personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said that the state government is willing to collaborate with private parties on cyber security.
