Record to make peace with China

3,670 students gathered to create a new world record for a human peace formation

Chennai: In a drive to spread awareness about contentious Indo-China relations and to carry a message of peace between the two countries, around 3,670 students from various schools and colleges gathered to create a new world record for a human peace formation and gather one million signatures. The event was organised by NGO D cube (Dawn to Dusk Drivers) at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School on Sunday.

The project is the brainchild of Raju Ninan, President of D cube. He got the idea six to eight months back when a statement was made by General S. Padmanabhan that China would be the number one enemy of India more than Pakistan. “ It was then I decided to do something like that of peace gathering involving young minds, which will also spread awareness among them and carry the message of peace between the two countries and make something like a peace book and hand it over to Chinese Government,” he said.

The D Cube officials also organised a signature book called the peace book in which they plan to collect one million signatures by July 26, which is when four vehicles will leave for China to hand over the book to Chinese Ambassadors. Mr Raju further said that they are waiting for the permission from the Chinese authorities and is hopeful that they will get it.

Siby Christopher, an organiser, said that they will be able to reach one lakh signatures by July 26. Present at the occasion was chief guest Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammad Abdul Ali, He signed the peace book saying, “It is a very good way to spread awareness among youth. Hope the bilateral relations between two countries continue for many years. ‘Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai’ should exist in a real sense,” he said.

Adrian David, a participant from KCG college of Technology, said that the political situation in Leh, Ladakh is aggressive and same on the north east side. “I think it is a good initiative to spread the message of peace,” he said.
