BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), under the leadership of ADGP (Prisons) Kamal Pant will initiate investigations into the in-house corruption case in Lokayukta after it receives an official notification from the Home Department, likely on Monday.
“I had a detailed discussion regarding this case with my second in command whom I chose and we have jointly chosen less than 20 officials from all ranks below the DIG level, and we will scrutinise the case from all angles,” Pant told Deccan Chronicle. When asked when will the SIT be in a position to submit a report, at least a preliminary one, Pant said “It’s an investigation and fixing a deadline will be difficult.”
Pant also said that it will be his discretion whether to seek help or assistance from the Lokayukta police officials who played a vital role in detecting the extortion racket that functioned within the Lokayukta office.
