CPI seeks jobs for people of capital region

The protestors demanded CRDA commissioner N. Srikanth to come to CRDA but as he was unavailable
Guntur: The unemployed, farmers and tenant cultivators led by the CPI staged a protest in front of the CRDA office at Tullur on Saturday seeking employment. The leaders of the CPI warned to launch a series of protests if the government fails to provide employment to the people of the 29 villages of the capital region.
Addressing the dharna, CPI state assistant secretary M. Nageswara Rao alleged that the government promising employment to farmers, workers and women snatched the fertile lands but failed to provide livelihood. He lamented that 55,000 agriculture workers were barred from employment but neither the CRDA nor state government was trying to help them to nurture their families. Questioning how a family of four would get bread for one month with meager Rs 2,500 social security pension per month, he demanded the government to increase it to Rs 9,000 per month per family or Rs 2,500 per head.
Mr Nageswara Rao lamented that women are facing severe financial difficulties to pay Dwcra loan installments due to the absence of works in the capital region villages. He demanded waiver of Dwcra and all other loans in the 29 villages of the capital region with immediate affect. He ridiculed that ministers were enjoying the tours of capital region in the name of new capital works but local people are forced to migrate to other areas for work. The leader warned about continuous besiege of CRDA office if the government fails to provide social
security pension and employment.
CPI district secretary J. Ajaykumar announced starting a series of protests against the CRDA and the state government seeking justice to the capital region public. He mentioned that protests would be held in all 29 villages of the capital region and further continuous relay fasts will be started from July 14 before CRDA office. The protest was started at 10 am and continued till 3 pm.
The protestors demanded CRDA commissioner N. Srikanth to come to CRDA but as he was unavailable, CRDA special grade deputy collector N. Rahamtullah held talks and assured protestors about taking the issues to the notice of the CRDA higher officials and the state government.
The dharna was concluded after submitting a memorandum of demands to Mr Rahamtullah in which farmers, tenant farmers and workers of the capital region villages participated in large numbers.
