Men in heels!

Is this the latest fad to take over the fashion world?
The trend is funny, shocking and, let’s admit it, an opportunity for women to get even — say hello to #meninheels. During an awards show, Arjun Kapoor danced wearing a four-inch long red peep toes and, miles away, thousands of men ran wearing four-inch heels as they took part in Madrid’s Gay Pride High Heels Race on Thursday
Is this fad because high heels have always been every woman’s fashion staple? To perfect that strut requires lots of practice and strength, one that men have always run far away from. But did you know that, centuries ago men were actually the first ones to wear heels? High heeled shoes were worn to maintain the balance during riding, they were a status symbol among the royalty and nobility. Louis XIV of France — who stood at five feet, which wasn’t considered the ideal height for a ruler —wore four inch heels to look taller. Years later, women started wearing them as a symbol of equality.
With recent role reversal, all the brave men who have tried going through what their ancestors once did have only one thing to say – Wow! How do women do this? “I watched Jurassic World recently, and I saw the actress running around in heels being chased by dinosaurs. I thought to myself, ‘I would have just let the animal eat me, there is no way I am going to run wearing those shoes’,” says stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant, a lover of flat shoes and socks. “I have sweaty feet man! I’ll look like an idiot if I wear socks and heels together. But I did try wearing heels once and I nearly fell off. It’s a wonder how women wear them all the time,” he adds.
TV actor Gaurav Gera, popularly known for his videos, had no choice but to wear heels during a TV show. “And after that, I had new found respect for women,” admits the actor. Adding that, “It’s painful, it hurts and heels are so not for me. During the launch of the show, I had to walk the ramp wearing them and I thought I was going to fall.”
No matter what the reason, social media is flooded with campaigns and posts where men are spotted wearing high heels. Women, on the other hand, have only one thing to say — ‘Welcome to our world!’
