Here's how 'foodies' really are!

The adventurous eaters actually weigh less than their counterparts

Washington: While you may think you are a foodie as you tend to gorge in excess when it comes to any yummy treat, a new study has shown that adventurous eaters actually weigh less and may be healthier than their counterparts.

Cornell Food and Brand Lab study surveyed 502 women in the U.S. and found that those who had eaten the widest variety of uncommon foods including seitan, beef tongue, Kimchi, rabbit, and polenta also rated themselves as healthier eaters, more physically active, and more concerned with the healthfulness of their food when compared with non-adventurous eaters.

Lead author Dr. Lara Latimer said that the participants also reported being much more likely to have friends over for dinner.

Co-author Brian Wansink added that the findings were important to dieters because they show that promoting adventurous eating may provide a way for people especially women to lose or maintain weight without feeling restricted by a strict diet.
