Rumours are torture for actors: Prabhas

Actor reveals the ‘dual role’ he’s playing in Baahubali
Hyderabad: Ahead of the release of Baahubali, Prabhas says that he had not felt this kind of pressure even for his debut film. “I can’t think of anything else but the film… the tension is too much,” he says.” The actor is playing both father and son in the film. For the senior role, he had to put on a lot of weight and for the son’s role, he had to knock it off. “My weight was nearly 100 kg for the father’s role, while for the son’s role, I reduced it to 80-85,” he says.
There were quite a few rumours surrounding Prabhas and Baahubali during the shooting of the film. “Rumours are a big torture for us,” he says, adding, “In Kerala, I had injured my hand after slipping in mud and had to visit a doctor. The next day the news spread that ‘Prabhas is in coma’, ‘Prabhas suffers head injury’, etc. My uncle (Krishnam Raju) got some hundreds of calls about my health.”
They had roped in three action directors from Vietnam. “They didn’t know English or any of our languages. We communicated only through signs. They learnt only one English word, ‘no’. Whenever we asked them for some rest, they said ‘no’,” adds the actor.
Prabhas had accepted the film without even hearing the story, only because of director Rajamouli. “Initially, we had planned the film on different subjects like Srikrishnadevaraya, Alluri Seetharama Raju and another king. But Rajamouli was not comfortable with those subjects and he finally came up with Baahubali,” says the actor.
While Prabhas had said that he would get married after Baahubali, there’s still a long way to go as shooting for the second part of the film will start soon. “Yes, the second part will start from September 15. It will be ready by next year,” he says. He adds that he is aware that there will be a “Baahubali impact” in his future films. “I will have to choose carefully. I have agreed to work with two directors and I am planning a commercial film with a good subject,” Prabhas says.
