Old City metro rail realignment delayed

There is a burial ground, crematorium and also other utility services like electric lines and other services

Hyderabad: The delay in submitting the technical report for re-alignment of the Metro Rail in the old city is because the government wants the Metro Rail to cross the Musi River.

While the report has still not been submitted, Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S Reddy stated that they were working on the finer details.

There is major objection from the engineering section which has clearly stated that it is not technically feasible.

A senior officer of L&T explained, Having a pillar on the bed of the Musi River is technically not feasible due to the geology and the topography.

There is a burial ground, crematorium and also other utility services like electric lines and other services. Also, a station on the river bank is not a good idea. It will attract a whole lot of problems like environmental clearances which will lead to further delays.

The observations of the technical committee have been noted but the report has not been submitted to the state government.
