Now Sonia Gandhi, Varun Gandhi in Lalit Modi row

Modi alleged that Varun Gandhi had met him in London and offered a deal to “settle matters”

New Delhi: Former IPL boss Lalit Modi, now on the rampage with his “revealing tweets”, on Wednesday tried to drag BJP MP Varun Gandhi into the controversy, alleging that a “deal” had been offered to “settle matters” with Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. Mr Varun Gandhi responded by saying that this was “blatantly untrue”.

Mr Modi alleged that Mr Varun Gandhi had met him at his house in London and offered a deal to “settle matters” with the Congress president. “How can I respond seriously to something so blatantly untrue? It is beneath my dignity to delve deeper into this shameful ridiculousness,” Mr Gandhi said.

BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain came to defence saying, “Varun Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are in different parties, and the world knows about the ties between the two families.”
