HD Kumaraswamy claims Lokayukta FIR was at behest of KJ George

'Lokayukta police officers were handed directions by none other than home minister K.J. George'

Belagavi: The issue of denotification of 2 acres and 29 guntas of land at Thanisandra, part of Arkavathi layout, involving former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy, resulting in Lokayukta police registering a FIR against the leader and BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa, took a new turn on Wednesday.

During a debate in the Assembly, Mr Kumaraswamy alleged that Lokayukta police officers were handed directions by none other than home minister K.J. George in the presence of energy minister D.K. Shivakumar.

After the CAG pointed out irregularities in denotifying 2 acres and 29 guntas land in Thanisandra, advocate Mr Jaykumar Hiremath lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta against Mr Kumaraswamy and Mr Yeddyurappa. The case is peculiar in nature, which states that Mr Yeddyurappa had denotified land in Gangenahalli to help his foe Mr Kumaraswamy. Though Mr Yeddyurappa denotified the land, the beneficiary was Mrs Vimala, mother-in-law of Mr Kumaraswamy, who was the GPA holder.

“If I wanted that land, I would have denotified it when I was the CM. The file came to me when I was Chief Minister. I just returned it to BDA with directions to act as per rules. During President’s rule the file did not move. The land was denotified in 2010 and after that my mother-in-law purchased it. Hhow am I responsible for these actions?'' he asked.

Mr Kumaraswamy pointed that this was the first time a FIR was based on CAG report. Usually, CAR report is referred to PAC, which would recommend the government to initiate action, if any discrepancy was proved.
