I am still undecided about a movie career: Sukrithi

In spite of a great debut with Kerintha, Sukrithi is still to make up her mind on whether to continue in Tollywood

Actress Sukrithi has been getting rave reviews for her performance in her debut Tollywood movie Kerintha.

“I never wanted to come into films as I was not interested,” says Sukrithi, who was born and brought up in Delhi and did her engineering from Rajasthan. But when producer Dil Raju announced that he was looking for new faces for his film, her friends asked her to send her portfolio.

“Our family has never had a filmi connect. But when my friends forced me to send my portfolio, I consulted my brother, family and relatives about the film industry. Many advised us to go for it as many educated people were now taking up films as a career. More than that, it was a Dil Raju production and my brother said that it was a good one. So that’s how I sent my videos,” she says.

However, her Telugu is a bit rusty. “That’s the reason I sent a Hindi video of mine along with a Telugu one. I got a call from the production house when I was in my fifth year,” she says.
She came down to Hyderabad with her father. “I participated in a workshop and they gave me acting classes too. Actually, this workshop helped me a lot with my language too,” she says.

She adjusted her dates for the film according to her studies. “As part of my education, I was supposed to go for an industrial tour and I allocated the dates of that tour to this film. The producer and director were very helpful and they never treated me like a new girl,” she adds.

Sukrithi’s father is a civil engineer in Delhi and her mother is a housewife. “I watch Telugu films, but not every film. Telugu films are a big craze here. Whenever a dubbed Telugu film comes on TV, my friends watch it,” she says.

Sukrithi is getting quite a few offers, but she doesn’t want to take any up immediately. “I still have my doubts and I don’t want to jump onto my next project. I will think about it and will also consult my family. People say negative stuff about the film industry. But if any good character comes along, I might take it up,” she says.
