Jayalalithaa's record win in RK Nagar polls leaves cadres elated

Governor Rosaiah, Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan congratulate AIADMK leader

Chennai: It was a day-long celebration for AIADMK cadre at the party headquarters and at Poes Garden over the thumping victory of Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, in the R.K. Nagar bypoll. Expecting the party supremo to win with a huge margin, volunteers, armed with sweet packets and crackers thronged happening spots. They danced to the tunes of MGR film songs.

According to AIADMK sources, greetings poured in for Ms Jayalalithaa. The Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah was the first person to congratulate her on her victory over phone.Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping greeted Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on her massive victory in by-elections. Describing Ms Jayalalithaa as “Amma,” Mr Pon Radhakrishnan extended his hearty congratulations to her for her massive victory and said he would pray to the Goddess Parashakthi to bestow her with all wealth and give her a longer life.

“This is an unwanted bypoll necessitated by DMK and this mandate for Amma is a huge blow to Opposition parties. This result will continue in the next 2016 polls,” said AIADMK functionary Poonga Nagar Selvam. Cadres in Tiruchy, Karur, Kanchi Tiruvallur, Vellore and Tiruvarur distributed sweets.

Jayalalithaa brings in 76,000 addl votes for AIADMK

“In 2011, our party secured about 83,000 votes and now the ruling AIADMK not only retained the labour dominated seat, but Amma has brought an additional 76,000 votes to our party, decimating every other force in north Chennai,” said a jubilant former R K Nagar MLA P. Vettrivel, who vacated the seat for his party supremo.
