Hard work has paid off: Robin Uthappa

Amassing 912 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 364 in the IPL-8, Uthappa returned to training recently
Bengaluru: Following consistent performances on the domestic circuit, Robin Uthappa has fought his way back into the India squad for the tour of Zimbabwe starting July. Being part of the treble-winning domestic powerhouse Karnataka, the opener is gearing up for the African safari under the watchful eyes of personal coach Pravin Amre in Mumbai.
“(I’m) happy to be back and looking forward to make the most out of this opportunity. I’m very grateful and very much looking forward here on,” he said on Monday.
Having last been part of the India ‘A’ squad eight summers ago for a Zimbabwe tour, Uthappa believes representing the senior team is a proud moment. “I had traveled to Zimbabwe in the 2007 with the India ‘A’ team but there is a difference between playing (for) India and the ‘A’ side,” said Uthappa.
Amassing 912 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 364 in the IPL-8, Uthappa returned to training recently. “I took a break after the IPL and started training in Mumbai little more than a week ago. I have been training here since October and getting ready for the new season. All the hard work has paid off and I’ll give my best during the tour.”
