Tough test for Telangana temple trust board aspirants

Trustees have the responsibility to serve the Gods, develop temples, protect its properties and provide amenities to devotees

Hyderabad: Aspirants for the TS temple trust boards have to face a tough test. Not only do they have to answer 32 questions and observe 11 dos and don?ts posted by Endowments Department as part of check slip for credentials of the applicants for trusteeship, they also have to write a 250 to 500 word essay on how his role would contribute substantially for development of the institution/temple.

While only persons professing Hinduism are eligible to apply, they should also be a graduate if the temple/charitable institutions income is above Rs one crore and intermediate for below that.

The Telangana government invited applications for trusteeships in scores of temples including 16 major temples like Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, Yadagirigutta, Nalgonda, Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam, Bhadrachalam, Khammam district, Sri Gnana Saraswathi Ammavari Devasthanam, Basara (V), Mudhole (M), Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, Komaravalli (V), Warangal District, Sri Sammakka Saralamma Jathara Warangal, Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy Devasthanam, Vemulawada, Karimnagar district, Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, Dharmapuri (V,M), Karimnagar district.

There are some rules. The government wants the devoted to man the temples, Dr K. V. Ramana Chary, Advisor to the government told Deccan Chronicle.

While form 2 of the 7-page application form seeks basic bio data of the applicant to be attested by an Advocate / Gazetted Officer, the test really begins from the next page B.

The questions include: Do you have faith in God and Hinduism? Do you possess good conduct and reputation in the locality where the institution is situated? Do you consume intoxicating liquors and drugs? Do you smoke? Are you in arrears of any amount to the institution or endowment? Are you an undischarged solvent? Are you of unsound mind and not declared as such by a competent court? Are you suffering from leprosy or any other virulent contagious disease? Do you profess religious traditions/Are you a descendant of any historian/Sampradayam of the temple? Do you or your forefathers have at any time made donations of jewels/sponsoring of flower decoration/vastraalankaram of the deity? Have you ever provided amenities to the devotees of God? Have you ever rendered shramdham for cleanliness in any temple? Have you ever organised Bhajana brundams/religious discourses, in any temple?
