Bengaluru: Five Nigerians assault traffic assistant sub-inspector

The police have formed a special team to nab the accused

BENGALURU: The Hulimavu police are on the lookout for a gang of five Nigerians, who in an inebriated state, allegedly assaulted a traffic assistant sub-inspector on duty late on Sunday night in Hulimavu.

Vasu, a traffic assistant sub-inspector attached to the Hulimavu police station, was on duty along with two other policemen when the incident took place.

During a drive to check traffic violations, Mr Vasu and his team stopped a car being driven rashly and negligently. “When the accused were asked to undergo breath analysis test, one of them snatched the breath analysis machine from the officer’s hand, pushed him away and managed to flee the spot,” the officer said.

The police have formed a special team to nab the accused and have also alerted Mangaluru police to trace the car.
