Ganesh upbeat about his Bollywood entry

Actor will be foraying into Bollywood with Guns of Banaras

Actor Ganesh Venkatraman is thrilled that his role with negative shades in the recently-released Achaaram has paid off! He has been garnering accolades and wishes not only from critics, but also from the industry veterans.

“Since I was hitched already, I thought female fans wouldn’t really react to my role in Achaaram. Surprisingly, there was a lot of positive response from women who felt that my character evoked sympathy,” Ganesh tells DC. He adds, “So far, my films like Abhiyum Naanum, Theeya Velai Seeyanum Kumaru, etc were meant mostly for ‘A’ centers and multiplex audiences. For me, reaching out to the B and C centres is important at this point in my career. Achaaram has given me a lot of confidence to accept challenging roles.”

On his upcoming flick Thani Oruvan under Jayam Raja’s direction, Ganesh says, “It’s an action-adventure movie starring four friends. I essay a pivotal role in it all of us including Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara have tried our hand at adventure sports like mountain climbing, river skiing, and so on for the film.”

But the big news is that the handsome actor will be foraying into Bollywood with Guns of Banaras a remake of Tamil blockbuster Polladhavan. “I reprise Daniel Balaji’s baddie role in Hindi. But, director Shekkar Suri has improvised my character. I don a menacing look long hair, cocaine-smoking thug with an aghori Baba tattoo on my left arm! It’s a different kind of UP-Hindi slang that we speak in the film. It’s shaping up brilliantly,” he says, excitedly.

Ganesh also adds that he follows Amitabh Bachchan’s advice quite seriously. “He used to tell me, ‘we actors are all entertainers. We should prove our mettle on any platform. Irrespective of any medium, be it radio, TV, stage, YouTube — an actor has to diversify.’ I am just doing that! I want to explore my talents in every medium possible,” signs off Ganesh.
