Actor first, hero next: Satya

Satya says that more than a hero, he wants become a good actor

Satya, another find of director Puri Jagannadh, was cast as lead actor opposite Charmme in Jyothi Lakshmi, and was appreciated for his performance.

The Vizag lad always wanted to be an actor, but had never attended any acting school. “I believe that acting comes naturally when you have a passion for it. I observe people around me. When I get a character, I do my homework and I start behaving like the character,” he says.

In Jyothi Lakshmi, Satya’s character is in love with a call girl and wants to marry her. “The character needed a strong attitude and a stubborn look. I give credit to director Puri sir for the way he explains the scene. I feel he is one director who can get any actor to perform,” he adds.

After completing his engineering from Vizag, Satya had shifted to Bengaluru for a job. “Though I had made a few short films with friends a few years ago, we didn’t get much attention at that time. Once I completed graduation, I used to come to Hyderabad and give my portfolios for roles,” he says.

“I don’t want to be only a hero; I want to be a good actor like Irrfan Khan, Prakash Raj and Naseeruddin Shah,” says Satya.

Satya also had a small role in the recently released Asura, for which he was appreciated. “I want to play characters that people will remember for a long time, whether it’s positive or negative,” he says.

In the Telugu film Maine Pyar Kiya too, he played an interesting character. “I am 26 and I played a 40-year-old. It was a challenge and I got a good name for it. As I told you, I observe people and their behaviour which helps me in my acting,” he says.

He will be next seen in Kshanam and has been getting quite a few offers in Telugu. He married his long-time love Deepika last year. “She was actually my classmate and we know each other from 2004,” Satya says.
